Intro and Housekeeping Parking Lot: “You Are Not Special” commencement speech. Focus Of The Week: A Few Examples of Simplified Models (seriously, google it, there are many): - CPRE - MCCL - GCP -The Institute For Personalized Learning -Getting Smart Guest Interview: Gerrit Jones-Rooy, Research Specialist with CPRE. Explanation of CPRE principles: The basic principle is that we need to teach people to take over for us, so we try to set up a few things. 1) Hub schools - a place to really dig deep with practice and PD. Other teachers can observe practices here. 2) Elevate successful teachers into Mentors and Master teachers who can take on PD responsibilities over time 3) Practice in a variety of contexts. We model it in schools, have teachers practice with each other with feedback in workshops, teach coaches PD structures that emphasize practice 4) RETURN. We get more work done when we prove that we care and come back. Just like with students, you set goals - remember where teachers are, and follow up with extra resources & advice.
